2021 Top Shark Tournament

Tournaments
NAPA OF CENTRAL MISSOURI 2021 TOP SHARK TOURNAMENT

NAPA of Central Missouri holds a FREE ENTRY, LOCAL tournament between Columbia, Jefferson City, and Moberly each year. The tournament is known as the Top Shark Tournament.

Each player pays and extra $1 when they shoot to fund the tournament.  This tournament is FREE entry unless the leagues wants to add to the payouts. The more teams, the more money in payouts. It is to your benefit to recruit more players into NAPA so the payouts can be the highest they can be.  If your league does not pay the extra $1 per week then you are not eligible to play in this FREE ENTRY Tournament.

We did not have a tournament in 2020, because of Covid 19 pandemic.  We will have one in 2021 that will combine the payouts from 2020 and 2021. The amount for the Top Shark Tournament is yet to be decided because of the reduced league participation because of Covid and the three months we did not have league.  I still expect it to be GREAT!!

The 2021 Top Shark Tournament will be held on May 15-16 and May 22-23.  The tournament will be over two weekends because I wanted to keep the number of players playing as low as possible simply because the pandemic is not over.  Secondly, a complaint on the last Top Shark was the number of games played in the lowest handicap group,  In 2019 in the winner's bracket for the lowest handicap group, a difference of 0-19 points the race was 2-2.  This year the race will be 3-3.  In addition, the losers bracket in the upper group will be a race to 3 instead of a race to 2.  This will increase the time required for the tournament.   All of the other races will remain the same in the losers bracket being a race to 2.  The doors open at 8:30 AM instead of 9 AM and the matches start at 10 AM.  There will be a Calcutta and it will begin at 9:30 AM.

Each handicap group will have the following payouts:
1st    $1,500    (in 2019 $1,060) plus trophy
2nd    $1,100    (in 2019 $800) plus trophy
3rd    $ 750    (in 2019 $500)
4th    $ 500    (in 2019 $300)
5th-8th    $ 115    (in 2019 $75)
9th-16th   $ 90    (in 2019 none given)

The Handicap groups for the 2021 Top Shark are:
0 - 43   42 players playing on 15 May
44 - 64 42 players playing on 22 May
65 - 82  42 players playing on 16 May
83+      42 players playing on 23 May
168 players total

Any shooter that has a conflict, can shoot in the group immediately ABOVE their handicap level.  You cannot move down.
Here is what the handicap groups have been in the past:

2016:  0-41, 42.58, 59-77, 78+  106 players
2017:  0-40, 41-53, 54-74, 75+  112 players
2018:  0-43, 44-60, 61-74, 75+  147 players
2019:  0-43, 44-60, 61-81, 82+  140 players

Chad Reams will be running the tournament again this year.

This is to reward the players who play in NAPA and not to reward those players that only play one season and quit.  To qualify for this tournament you MUST play at least FIVE matches a season and TWO out of SIX seasons (normally over three seasons) in NAPA and play in a league that supports paying an extra $1 each time you shoot.
