ARE YOU AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT HAS AT LEAST ONE POOL TABLE (preferrably more than one) AND WANTS EXTRA BUSINESS?

ARE YOU NEW AND WOULD LIKE MORE BUSINESS AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT?

If you answered YES to either question above, or just want to increase your business, NAPA of Central Missouri Billiards League may be able to help.

Unlike other billiards leagues NAPA will NEVER ask the establishment to:

  • Provide team T-shirts.

  • Provide drinks to the team.

  • Provide drink specials to billiard teams.

  • Pay for team dues.

  • Pay sponsorship fees.

What do you get in return?

  • Two billiard teams with a total of 8-12 people plus girlfriends, wives, husbands, children, friends, etc that will be there for at least a couple of hours. They could come to eat or, at the very least, get something to drink.

  • If you only have one team playing out of your establishment then you will have this traffic every other week since the teams play "away" half the time and at your establishment half the time.

  • If you want teams in your establishment every week then you can sponsor (be home location) for TWO teams. That way each week you will have 8-12 people there for league.

If you have regulars that play pool in your establishment then you can offer them NAPA. What do they get?

  • NO annual dues. This saves them $22-25/year.

  • Four person teams for 8 ball (no more than 7 players on a team) so you don't need as many players on a team.  Other leagues require 5-8 players.

  • We recommend 5 person teams (no more than 8 players on a team) for 9 ball, 10 ball.

  • We play 8 ball, 9 ball, 10 ball, Lagger's Choice, singles, scotch doubles, double play and more.

  • The players play MORE games to be competitive.  Sometimes the races are 10-2 based on handicap differences.  Usual races are less games.

  • Higher payouts in four person league that other leagues in five person payouts.  You don't have to split your winnings with a lot of players.

  • Deeper payouts. We pay out to the top 50% of teams or even all the teams. Most leagues only pay the top 2-4 teams, maybe the top 25% at most.  We can do that too but it is up to the PLAYERS!  The PLAYERS also determine what night and how much each week they pay, and team handicaps.

  • FREE entry into a LOCAL $10,000+ singles tournament.  All the players have to do is play 5 matches in each of two seasons out of three in NAPA and they are qualified!

What do we want?

  • The only thing we ask is to open the tables so the players do not have to pay for games.  This is not a pre-requisite for league.  It is just a request.  In some areas it is customary to pay for games.  In some bars the bar owners do not own the tables.  We understand that.  But if you have any control over the tables please consider this....

What if you do not want to give up the quarters for the game?  We typically play about 22-25 games a night.  If you charge $1 per game that is about $23 avg you would lose in quarters as the worst case (less if you split it with a vendor).  Think about this....most players come to spend a certain amount of money.  If they have to pay for the game ($1 per game), pay dues ($8), that leaves less money to spend for a drink or food.  If the payment for the game is eliminated the players have more money to spend...to buy drinks or food. Now if 8-12 players have more money to spend, I know they will spend more than what you lose in quarters.  Losing $23 in quarters is about $2 for every player there.  How much does a beer cost?  Instead of nursing a beer alll night long they may buy two or three giving you many times your $23 back.  So losing $23 in quarters is a small price to pay to have more food and drink sold and it makes your players happy!!  As an added benefit players normally stay later after league ends so that benefits you again.  Who knows, you may gain additional customers due to your generosity.

Strategy.

  • If you own your own tables you will make money when you open the tables.  You probably already do for local tournaments.  Same principle.
  • Another option if you own your own tables, is to charge green fees.  The smaller the better but at least you will be getting something out of it for the games.
  • If you do have to split quarters with a vendor please consider this....You pay the $22 or so in quarters for the games and you will get half back from the vendor.  You will only pay half the cost and get additional player money when they buy one of your beers or get something to eat!  And the pool players will think you are VERY GENEROUS!!

So it is up to you. You can increase your business and provide a real alternative to your customers. Columbia plays on Monday,
Tuesday, and Wednesday nights and Jefferson City plays on Tuesday and Thursday nights for 15 weeks. Sedalia on Wednesday nights, Troy on Monday and Tuesday nights, Moberly on Tuesday nights.  Other nights and cities may be organized in the future but why wait? Get started now!!
