Take a look at how we compare with APA.

Why should you play NAPA?  Check it out!!

If you have questions about NAPA there is a good chance someone has already asked that question.  You can find out HERE.

NAPA does have a "different" handicap system.  It is not your typical 2-7 handicap for players.  Some players that are SL 7's are VERY GOOD 7's but the races do not reflect just how good they are because the races are the same for a VERY BAD 7 as a VERY GOOD 7.  The same is true for SL 2's.  Some are VERY BAD and should not even be a two.  Have you ever said that?  NAPA has listened to players and come up with a handicap system that takes all these in consideration.  The handicap system is not 2 - 7 but 0 - no upper limit!  I know that sounds strange but think about it.  If you are good and keep winning shouldn't your handicap keep going up and the games required to win keep going up as well?  Also if you are very bad shouldn't your handicap keep going down as you lose?  NAPA races are the difference between the handicaps.  That is why some races are as high as 10-2 to win.  NAPA's handicap system, as iin any handicap system, has as its goal to give each player a 50-50 chance at winning.  That is why there are more games in a race...to make it more even.

How would your handicap compare to NAPA?  Well, if you are an APA 4 you would just add a 0 (now it is 40) and add 10 (now it is 50).  You would be a 50 in NAPA!  That simple!

Sandbagging is always a challenge to eliminate.  NO handicap system can eliminate sandbagging but what has NAPA done to eliminate it?  In sandbagging the idea is to make your opponent look better than they are and you worse than you are, even to the extent of losing games.  NAPA eliminates 99% of this.  How?  You do not have to keep track of defensive shots.  You do not have to keep track of balls made.  None of this is counted.  Another way to sandbag is to lose games until the last game and then win it.  In NAPA the points you earn in winning is 20 points.  HOWEVER, if you lose ONE game you can only win 14 points so it does not matter if you lose one game or all games up until the last game.  It is the same number for team points.  In other words it costs your TEAM 6 points to throw A game.  Doesn't sound like much but only FOUR players on a team shoot each week in 8 ball.

By the way, if you lose you get 3 points if you win ONE game or more and 1 points if you do not win a game.  To EACH person's score you add bonus points.  1 point for an 8 (or 9 in 9 ball) on the break.  1 point for a break and run.  1 point for a rackless match (winning the lag and all games...not touching the rack...rackless).

Not everyone can go to the league's national event.  In all leagues it is invitational only.  So how do you qualify?  Actually, in APA you have to go through end of season playoffs and end of year regionals to qualify and only then do a FEW teams get to go and only then do you get a little bit of money to pay your expenses.  In NAPA there are no playoffs or regionals.  You can qualify EASILY by being on the first place team, being a captain, being the person with the highest points on your, being MVP.  Also NAPA Nationals is SINGLES and not team.  How many times have you lost a team event because of one match?  Also, how many teams actually go to Nationals even after spending ADDITIONAL money on playoofs and going to regionals?   Any money you won is quickly put back into travel expenses.  In NAPA, even if you do not get to go to NAPA Nationals you can participate in a big money tournament......FOR FREE!

Each year, NAPA of Central Missouri, puts on a FREE ENTRY Tournament!  It is held in Jefferson City and Columbia.  Each league has to vote on adding an additional $1 to the weekly fees which goes directly and 100% to the tournament fund.  In 2014 it was $6,500.  In 2015 it was $7,500.  In 2016 it was $9,000!!  FREE ENTRY!!  The only requirement is to play in two seasons out of three in NAPA over the space of one year and at least five matches in each season.  That;s it!  So even if you don't go to a national event you can still win a lot of money!

There are more reasons to join NAPA so do some research on your own and find out why NAPA is the fastest growing national pool league in America today and why APA's membership is dwindling.  NAPA is truly the league for the PLAYER and not for the League Operator.

Try it!  You'll like it!!
